Account and Data Deletion

This is an English translation of the German "Konto- und Datenlöschung" page. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.

This page explains how users can delete their Tennis Mentor account and the associated data.

Delete inside the app

Open Tennis Mentor.
Go to Profile > Settings (gear icon, top right) > Delete account.
Read the information and warning shown.
Confirm the deletion by entering a confirmation code or by signing in again.
You will receive a confirmation in the app and/or by email to the registered email address.

This flow has been tested and is fully implemented before publication.

Delete through the website

Public deletion page: https://www.tennismentor.net/delete-account-en

The page is accessible without signing in and without the app installed. It describes both deletion routes and provides the email request; deletion is not carried out on the page itself but requested via the address given there.

Information to include in the request:

send it from the account's email address where possible;
optionally the user ID (shown in the app settings, but not required).

To prevent unauthorized deletion, we may require confirmation through the registered email address or a new sign-in.

Delete by email

Send the request from the registered email address to hello.tennismentor@gmail.com with the subject "Delete account".

Data deleted

After successful verification, we generally delete:

the Firebase Authentication account;
profile data (display name, country, playing style, playing level);
matches, training sessions, thoughts, goals, skills and settings in Firestore;
opponent profiles and equipment entries;
training and match plans;
blocked tips and bookmarks;
files in Cloud Storage (if any, e.g. photos of equipment);
Firebase Cloud Messaging device tokens and subscriptions.

Analytics and crash data (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) are stored pseudonymously and are not removed as part of the account deletion. They are deleted automatically once their respective retention periods expire (Analytics 14 months, crash reports 90 days). On request we will additionally arrange for their deletion, insofar as the data can still be attributed to a user.

Data that may be retained longer

Certain data may be retained where this is required by law or serves security and legal enforcement, for example:

records of privacy and deletion requests;
data used to prevent abuse, fraud or security incidents;
data required to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Such data is restricted and is not used for ordinary product purposes.

Timing

processing begins: promptly after identity confirmation;
deletion from active systems (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Storage): within 3–5 business days;
removal through regular backup overwrite: within 30 days;
residual presence in technical logs: up to 90 days (for security and audit purposes);
data retained by law: until the applicable period expires (typically 3 years for records of deletion requests).

Delete individual data without deleting the account

Users can delete individual matches, training sessions, thoughts or other entries directly in the app:

Matches: activity log → swipe or long-press an entry → delete;
Training sessions: same route;
Opponents: Opponents tab → select opponent → edit → delete opponent;
Equipment: Equipment tab → racket/equipment → delete;
Goals: Goals tab → select goal → delete.

Data export

Users can request a copy of their data by email to hello.tennismentor@gmail.com with the subject "Data export". We provide the data in a machine-readable format (JSON) within 10 business days.
